2 things have motivated me here of late into writing about this most fascinating, important and little known aspect of Hitler's opposer's during WWII.

1) The movie "VALKYRIE" starring Tom Cruise. He dons the role of protagonist, Claus von Strauffenberg. I must admit that although I am an avid Tom Cruise fan, I am a bit perplexed as to why an American has been chosen to star in such a poignant movie about a group of German Army soldiers involved in a complex and dangerous plot to assassinate Adolf Hitler. Plus, it appears that Tom is without a German accent. Hmmm!

2) One of Sara's history classes (graduate program) is currently dabbling in all things related to Hitler. I share her love of history so each time she studies on a certain topic, I find myself learning as much as I can about it as well. Most often, I find out details (major or minor) about certain aspects that occurred in different events in history and it captures my interest.

The events leading up to "Operation Valkyrie" have certainly captured my interest being that it was an ordeal which certain members of the German Resistance planned and had courage to implement. 64 years later, we know that this plan failed, but I ask myself...'why did it take 64 years for people to know about the plot to kill Hitler?'. I did not really know it in this much detail nor with so much proof that it did happen. I learned about "a" plan, but I left it to rumor since there were so many stories of people who wanted to kill der Führer ("the leader"). I just decided in my ignorance of so many years that such a thing probably never happened. U.S. schools really do a bad job of teaching certain historical events and they often turn things around so our country does not look bad. It is up to us, as citizens, to do all we can to educate ourselves more than what we learn in school. The Internet is a great place to begin as are our library systems.

The historical implications of operation Valkyrie are so huge. Since it is not well known in our country (USA) or known at all, we are seriously in danger of repeating that sort of history so I am grateful for the producers of the movie which has begun a huge interest and following by people wanting to know the truth. The thing we should all learn from this event is to not allow any one person or group to nab and sustain so much power. In stating that, I am so grateful for being close to ridding the USA of "W" and his cronies who were so close in bringing this great country to similar ill fates. The ideas, views and opinions of all people should be heard and given consideration. Our country, these last 8 years of having been under the "reign" of a fundamentalist-loving president, who did what he pleased whether legal or not, almost shadowed events similar under Hitler and his Nazis (SS). Imagine a world power (USA) succumbing to the ideas and leadership of a handful of man-men like Germany did. Thanks goodness for the change coming our way in this country next January 20th, 2009.

Back to events leading up to OP Valkyrie. Germans were suffering and still in distress from the "Treaty of Versailles". Hunger was all too common, money was very scarce if not nil. Just like our (U.S.) great depression but maybe multiplied to them. Anyway, in 1919, this peace treaty, which ended WWI between Germany and allied powers, left Germany having to make provisions. Some of those were that Germany had to accept responsibility for causing the war, to disarm, to make certain territorial concessions, and to make reparations to certain countries which had formed the Entente Powers (U.S., Russian Empire, British Empire, France, Italy, Empire of Japan). Entente is french for agreement. So years later when Hitler politicked as leader of the National Socialist Party (Nazis), he made promises of a prominent Germany. A pure and true and greater Germany. Everyone knows the lead he took to gain his power esp making Germans believe that non-Germans were a threat to them in all aspects in life. Jews (Juden) were the enemy as were homosexuals and such. The term "Judenfrage" (German for "Jewish question") was a Nazi term for "final resolution" ("Die Endlösung")...their final plan for ridding themselves of the Jews ala genocide. Much propaganda made Germans both fear and loathe Jews. In January 1933, Hitler was made Chancellor of Germany supposedly by President Paul von Hindenburg at the advise of his closest advisors. In March 1933, a law was passed which granted Hitler dictatorial powers. Thus, unions were abolished as were political parties forbidden except for the National Socialist. Upon President Hindenburg's death, Hitler abolished the office of the President and there was no one left who could present an effective challenge to Nazi power. Germans swore an oath to Hitler, not to country and not to Nazis, but to Hitler.

Many underground resistance groups were forming. Underground because opposition to Hitler was treason. One such group was known as the White Rose. It was formed by 5 students in their early twenties based out of the University of Munich in 1942. They became known for an anonymous leaflet campaign, lasting from June 1942 until February 1943. Their modus operandi, if you will, was in being united by Christian beliefs of tolerance and non-violence and they protested curvings of individual freedoms under Nazi regime. They called for the opposition of Hitler (+Nazis), his removal from power and the end to the insanity of WWII. The three most prominent members to date are...Sophie Scholl, her brother, Hans Scholl, and their very good friend, Christoph Probst. Their fame (and part of Hitler's infamy) is attributed to their capture and arrest on February 18th, 1943 for writing and distributing stacks of Leaflet Number 6. After being tried and convicted of treason, nearly 4 short days later, they were beheaded.

After the fall of Hitler and his Nazi regime, several Germans still believed that all members of the resistance were traitors. Including Claus von Strauffenberg who placed the actual bomb in his attempt to kill Hitler. Claus along with 3 other main conspirators of the July 20th assassination attempt, were arrested just 12 hours after the foiled plot. General Fromm (traitor to the resistance and to the conspirators and in a vain attempt to save his own life) ordered the capture of Claus, his aide, and two other officers and immediately ordered that the 4 be put to death for treason by firing squad. Fromm later underwent similar fate.

Hundreds of other conspirators of July 20th were captured and tried by the very judge who tried the Scholls and Christoph. They were sentenced to hang but the animals that the Nazis were, they were ordered to be hung using very thin but strong ropes so that they would suffer great pain prior to death. Sara said that her Prof said that often piano wire was used as well. It was a few years later when Germany was split into 2 separate states that Germans finally started viewing the conspirators as heroes and patriots of Germany rather than the traitors as they once viewed them. Germany's two separate states were as follows:

1) Federalist Republic of Germany...they were under rule of 3 zones lead separately by the British, the French and the United States.

2) German Democratic Republic...this was a zone lone controlled by Russia. It contained Berlin which as we all know, was later (1961) divided east and west.

The invasion lead by allies in April 1945 ended the Nazi regime with Hitler supposedly having ended his own life. They said they invaded Germany but not as Liberators but as Conquerors.

Post WWII, members of the resistance and the conspirators of July 20th came to be known as patriots...the Remer Case of 1952 concluded this, but still too many Germans thought otherwise. The events which ensued after Germany split into two separate states and more suffering came to their country, helped to reinforce many more German's views to finally see them as patriots.

In 1955, West Germany joined NATO. Any officer who wanted to join the new German Army was asked a series of questions. One being what was their view of the conspirators of July 20th, whether they believed they were traitors and if they believe they had honorable motives. If they said they believed the conspirators were traitors, they were ineligible for officer's commission. Berthold von Strauffenberg, son of Claus, always believed his father a hero so in 1956 he joined West Germany's new Army soon after it was finally established.

In Sept 14, 1952, the 4 major conspirators, including Claus von Strauffenberg were finally honored with a plaque in the courtyard of Plötzensee Prison. The very prison where the four and several other conspirators were executed. Some still disagree that such an honor should have been bestowed. I completely disagree with them. I am glad that the 4 were recognized and will be remembered for their honor and bravery during such turmoil which brought certain death if you opposed Hitler and his Nazis. Let it stand in memory of what Germany went through and what atrocities went unnoticed and committed by Hitler lest we forget!

Let it be a blotch against Hilter and the Nazis, let it be their shame. Let it be the victory cry of all Jews, homosexuals, members of the resistance, the conspirators, of all who suffered, all who died or lost loved ones that their sufferings were not forgotten nor in vain.

Let the cries be loud with indignity and the echoes heard around the world for all to hear..."look what the mad-man did"!

OBAMA WINS! "YES, HE DID!"!!!

(BTW, before I begin my poli-opus, did everyone notice the Obama's sporting black and red last night. Good sign for our Red Raiders.)...ANYWAY...FINALLY...The world's views on how ignorant and conforming American's (U.S.) can be may have just been swayed to a positive light as our voters went to the voting polls in numbers never seen before to cast their vote for "change" and to send "W" and his cronies packing. Maybe this signal was not so much against John McCain and his own sideline cronie known as Sarah Palin, but against "W" and his huge fan base of fundamentalist fools who want so much to rule this great country of ours even if it means turning it into the mush we have seen it get turned into. "W" and his "snake charmers" cannot think of the betterment of the whole country, but continue to be "self"-ish and go on ruling a government with an "each man for himself" attitude. They have indeed ruled long enough and the voters said "ENOUGH!". We took back our country yesterday in a history making effort to once again make good on our democratic values to lead the world in doing good and to rid ourselves of the former, fundamentalist's views of being righteous, contemptuous and truly ignorant.
I was never 100% on the Obama bandwagon. Everyone who knows us, knows Sara and I were unwaivering Hillary Clinton supporters. Most of our respective family members were. This made the primaries most interesting to say the least. It was truly heart-breaking and disappointing to say the least, when Hillary stopped her campaign. Even when she so eloquently and graciously gave her speech at the Dem National Convention and asked her supporters (over 18 million-a record of great proportions in itself) to cast their support and their vote of Barack Obama...we were not really ready nor convinced to do that. The thing that lead me to finally back Barack, was this country's awful financial crises of late. I thought it was kinda cool when John McCain asked a female to join his own ticket but after the days/weeks leading up to the elections, we (world) saw how not ready Sarah Palin was to be the V.P. let alone the probable President. She was not prepped, I blame McCain and his staff for that. Maybe she was set up as the "fall guy/gal" from the get-go 'just in case (wink, wink)'! Sarah was as ignorant as the bumbling idiot that resides in the white house currently. She was so sad to watch. Almost embarrassing...no, actually, she was embarrassing...embarrassing to any intellectual person especially of the female persuation. I would have cancelled any and all my memberships to the many political clubs for women that I have joined had McCain/Palin won last night. Their victory was not to be. It was ill-fated the minute John allowed "W" to endorse him and when John started siding with "W". Something the real "John the Maverick" would never have done a few years back when he first started his indignaties with the Republican party for going against them and for talking the truth about them. The truth always hurts when it is not good. Nothing good about the Reps, folks. John really sealed the box with a rusty nail when he picked Sarah Palin. Cleary, she was never vetted no matter what the Reps say.
What a wonderful evening it would have been had Hillary been the one who was victorious last night, but this was not meant to be either. It was still a privilege to witness the first-ever elected black President. I will not take that away from Obama. He was gracious and humble. I saw it immediately from when he appeared on stage. I can clearly see why he was as this. First, he still has millions of Americans to appeal to who did not vote for him. Second, he did not win a world championship, what he won is a huge amount of problems which are plaguing this country and with more to come due to the thing we all know as a domino effect. Third, he just lost one of the great love's of his life. His Grandma whom they lovingly referred to as "Toot". A term of endearment Obama (Barry) once cut short to "Toot" from the polynesian term of "tutu" meaning grandmother. Who cannot feel badly for Obama under these circumstances. Mainly losing his grandmother on the eve of the most monumental elections of all time. I include the entire world in this.
Keeping things in perspective as Sara and I have come to understand and accept as she ventures through her grad studies in history. We have learned to enjoy history-making events, whether we agree with them or not. Last night would have been historical regardless. But we are thanking the stars that the better of the two won. We still move forward in trying to elect the first woman President (or V.P.). We will not forget but we will forgive, and we will do as "our Hillary" asked us to do and support President Obama.
When I cast my early vote last Thursday (straight Dem ticket), I reflected on everything we had endured all these long months w/primaries & caucauses and the now bad economy and how dire things were. I could not allow myself to vote for the Rep ticket nor for the Independent ticket just to try to make a statement of protest for Hillary not being on the Dem ticket for V.P. (a slap to the face of 18 mil +). No, not now, our country needs help and the Dems can get us there. The Reps can go on calling us Socialists or even Communists. But we know what we are. We are citizens trying to help each other out. We are not a greedy and egoistical brood like the Reps are who would pretend to not see a person in need so they are justified in not lending a hand; in beleieving ppl are poor because they are lazy or because they want to be poor. Democrats just don't work like that. We love one another, and we do anything we can to lend that hand. Spreading the wealth can work if done correctly. In the months/years to come, they will see it our way.
Again, congrats to this great country of ours for voting in the Obama/Biden ticket into 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. Let's set aside our differences and help get our country back on the right track. Like Hillary's campagin adage said in Spanish, "Si se puede" and how Barack's own campaign mimicked the same tone in English, "Yes, we can".
History was made, now the citizens of this country need to step up to the plate and remember JFK's line of "ask not what your country can do for you, but ask what you can do for your country". What a euphoric world this indeed could be if everyone asked this of themselves and actually implemented it. Breaking it down even further, what a truly spectacular time it would be if we all started asking this within our families. Wow, what if we would just start it there. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...

Rudy Giuliani, Mitt Romney, and John McCain clamor to out-Reagan each other in their rush to prove their conservative credentials.Instead of believing in America, they put party before country, and believe that the worship of Saint Ronny will cast some kind of magic spell for them.This political cartoon parodies the iconic image of the raising of the flag at Iwo Jima during WW II.... JOHN MCCAIN IS SO OUT OF TOUCH WITH THE PUBLIC THAT HE THINKS MIDDLE CLASS STARTS WITH A HOUSEHOLD INCOME SO FAR OUT OF THE REACH FOR MILLIONS OF AMERICANS. I KNOW HIS COMMENTS ABOUT MIDDLE CLASS STARTING AT 3 MILLION DOLLARS WAS TAKEN OUT OF CONTEXT AND JOHN KNEW IT WOULD HAPPEN, SO WHY ON EARTH SAY SOMETHING SO BOGUS TO BEGIN WITH? WHAT AN IDIOT. I RESPECT HIS TOUR OF DUTY AND HIS LENGTHY STINT AT THE HANOI HILTON (Hoa Lo). HE ENDURED SUCH SUFFERING THAT NO ONE SHOULD HAVE TO EXPERIENCE (over 5 years all together as a POW with 2 of those years stuck in solitary). BUT, IT WAS HIS JOB AND HIS DUTY AS HE VOLUNTEERED (VIA THE NAVY) THAT DUTY AND SO DID MILLIONS OF OTHER AMERICANS (ALLIES) AND SEVERAL HUNDRED OF THEM SUFFERED THE SAME OR WORSE ATROCITIES AS JOHN DID. WHAT I MEAN IS HE DID NOT DO ANYTHING SPECIAL, HUNDREDS IF NOT THOUSANDS WERE DOING THE SAME. HE WAS NOT THE BEST STUDENT GROWING UP AND WE ALL KNOW HIS CAREER AT THE MILITARY ACADEMY BEFORE HE ENLISTED. NOT THE BRIGHTEST IN THE CRAYON BOX AS MY FAMILY AND I LIKE TO SAY. HE WAS SHOT DOWN DUE TO HUMAN ERROR (HIS OWN). MAYBE JOHN WAS NEVER IN TOUCH WITH THE PUBLIC AS HE WAS A MILITARY-BRAT AND NEVER SUFFERED FROM BEING BROKE. NOW FOR SARAH PALIN…SHE THINKS SHE IS POLITICALLY SAVVY, BUT SHE IS WRONG. SHE DID NOT EVEN KNOW WHAT THE “BUSH DOCTRINE” ENTAILED WHEN INTERVIEWED BY CHARLIE GIBSON LAST WEEK. GRANTED, NOT MANY PPL MAY KNOW IT ESP. THOSE WHO FAIL TO DO THEIR OWN RESEARCH, BUT IT IS NOT DIFFICULT TO GUESS AT WHAT IT IS AND SARAH PALIN FAILED TO REMOTELY TRY TO TAKE A STAB AT IT. BILL MAHER SAID IT BEST WHEN HE DESCRIBED THAT PARTICULAR MOMENT AS SARAH PALIN LOOKING LIKE A DEER CAUGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD IN FRONT OF HEADLIGHTS. CLEARLY HER “PPL” DID NOT PREPARE HER AT ALL, JUST LIKE IT IS EVIDENT SHE WAS NEITHER VETTED, OR MAYBE CHARLIE WENT AGAINST A SCRIPT OF QUESTIONS THAT MAY HAVE BEEN REVIEWED AND PRE-APPROVED BY SARAH’S PEEPS OR MAYBE NONE OF HER PEEPS BOTHERED TO REVIEW THE QUESTIONS IN ORDER TO HAVE HER INTERVIEW-READY FOR THE “Q&A” SEGMENT. SHE WAS ALSO CAUGHT IN THE BIG LIE ABOUT THAT STUPID “BRIDGE TO NOWHERE”…SHE SAYS SHE WAS AGAINST IT BEFORE SHE WAS FOR IT, BUT PREVIOUS DATA SHOWS OPPOSITE. I ADMIT THAT THE BEST THING ABOUT SARAH IS THAT SHE HAS A BEAUTIFUL FAMILY. HER BABY BOY MAKES MY HEART MELT WHENEVER I SEE HIM. HE IS ADORABLE INDEED. CONGRATS TO SARAH AND HUBBY FOR HAVING HIM, BUT IT DOES NOT MAKE ME FEEL GOOD KNOWING SHE IS FOR GETTING RID OF ROE VS. WADE. SCAREY! THE REPUBS ARE SO BUSY WITH THEIR OUTDATED FUNDAMENTALIST VIEWS THAT THEY DO NOT SEE THE CURRENT AILS OF OUR GREAT COUNTRY. AMERICANS ARE LOSING THEIR JOBS, THEIR HOMES, THEIR VEHICLES. AND IF ANYONE MERELY THINKS THAT THESE ARE JUST MATERIAL POSSESSIONS AND WE SHOULD BE GRATEFUL FOR BEING ALIVE, WELL…YOU ARE RIGHT BUT WRONG. THE WRONG IS IN BRUSHING ASIDE THE HARD WORK PPL HAVE PUT INTO CREATING A HOME FOR THEIR FAMILIES. THE HARD WORK THAT WENT INTO BUYING CERTAIN THINGS ONLY TO LOSE IT ALL DUE TO SOME BUMBLING IDIOTS IN THE CURRENT ADMINISTRATION WHO SHOULD BE HELD LIABLE FOR THESE FINANCIAL DISASTERS. MADAM SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, NANCY PELOSI, DO YOUR JOB AND BRING “W” AND HIS CRONIES TO JUSTICE. SHE FAILED TO DO SO WHEN “W” STARTED HIS CRIMES AGAINST OUR CONSTITUTION RIGHT AT THE START OF HIS “SELECTED REIGN” (WOULD BE CALLED “ELECTED TERM” HAD HE BEEN ELECTED PROPERLY AND NOT SELECTED BY THE SUPREME COURT. HIS TERM IS A REIGN SINCE HE STOLE THE ELECTION AND TREATS HIS POSITION AS THOUGH HE WERE KING). NANCY SHOULD HAVE BEGUN IMPEACHMENT PROCEEDINGS WHEN "KING GEORGE" SOUGHT WAR AGAINST A SOVEREIGN NATION. NOW “W” IS ALMOST OUT OF THE WHITE HOUSE (YEA!) AND PELOSI CAN & SHOULD STILL GO AFTER HIM AND ALAN GREENSPAN AND ALL CULPABLE PERSONS WHO LEAD OUR GREAT COUNTRY TO THIS CURRENT RECESSION AND FINANCIAL WINDFALL. NOT TO MENTION THEIR IGNORANCE OF OUR NATION’S LAWS AGAINST WIRE TAPPING, THEIR IGNORANCE OF THE WORLD’S ORDER (NATO) OF KEEPING WITHIN LAWS DURING WAR. AND ON, AND ON, AND ON. THE REPUBS HAVE FAILED US ALL MISERABLY. HOW DARE ANYONE WANT TO BE A REPUB RIGHT NOW? HOW SHAMEFUL TO THOSE WHO BELIEVE “W” DID A GOOD JOB AND FAIL TO ADMIT ANY WRONG-DOINGS BY “W” AND HIS ADMIN.I HAVE NOT YET DECIDED WHO WILL GET MY VOTE, BUT I DO KNOW ONE THING, IT WILL NOT GO IN THE FAVOR OF THE MCCAIN/PALIN TICKET. IT WOULD GO AGAINST MY MORALS, BELIEFS AND VIEWS. I AM STILL ANGRY AT OBAMA FOR DARING TO VENTURE INTO THIS YEAR’S ELECTION ON THE BASIS OF CHANGE. HILLARY WAS THE TRUE CHANGE WE NEEDED. MANY SAID HILLARY WAS CALCULATING…WHICH POLITICIAN ISN’T? ONE HAS TO MAKE PLANS WHEN PLANNING TO RUN FOR POLITICAL OFFICE. OBAMA AND MCCAIN WERE JUST AS CALCULATING AS SHE WAS, EXCEPT EVERYONE KNEW SHE WOULD RUN FOR PRES. IN 2008. OBAMA SHOULD HAVE WAITED. HE WON ON THE PREMISE OF OUR OLD-FASHIONED AND OUT-DATED PRELIMINARY SYSTEM. HE WON CAUCAUSES WHERE SHE WON PRIMARIES. NO ONE WANTED TO VOTE AGAINST “HIM” IN FULL VIEW OF THE PUBLIC. IN PRIVATE VOTING, HILLARY WAS THE CLEAR WINNER. PRIVATELY, EVERYONE WANTED HER. SHE GAINED STRENGTH AND GIVEN A FEW MORE WEEKS, SHE WOULD HAVE WON MORE PRIMARIES AND CAUCAUSES. AFTER ALL, SHE DID WIN 18 MILLION VOTES. MORE VOTES THAN OBAMA OR ANY OTHER POLITICIAN TO EVER RUN FOR THE OFFICE OF PRESIDENT HAD EVER RECEIVED SINGLE-HANDEDLY. OBAMA REALLY FOULED UP IN PICKING BIDEN. ALTHOUGH I DO LIKE JOE AND ALWAYS HAD AN AFFINITY FOR HIS POLITICAL VIEWS AND FAMILY VALUES, HE IS NOT WHAT THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY NEEDED RIGHT NOW. IT NEEDED AND DEMANDED HILLARY ON THE TICKET. OBAMA WAS COCKY AND DETERMINED NOT TO ALLOW ANYONE (MAINLY A WOMAN) DICTATE HIS RUN AT THE PRESIDENCY DOING THINGS AS HE SAW FIT. HE MAJORLY MUCKED UP AND STIFFLED THE VOICE OF 18 MILLION HILLARY SUPPORTERS. OBAMA DECIDED TO RUN ON THE DEM TICKET AND CHOSE TO DO SO WITH A MAN, JOE BIDEN. JOEY BIDEN IS CLEARLY A GOOD MAN AND A GOOD DEMOCRAT, BUT NOT CLOSE TO FILLING THE SHOES OF HILLARY CLINTON.ALTHOUGH I HAVE COME TO NOT LIKE THE POLITICAL VIEWS OF SARAH PALIN (AND JOHN’S I NEVER CARED FOR), I WAS TICKLED PINK THAT THE REPUBS HAD THE GUTS TO PICK A WOMAN FOR V.P. IT DID NOT HELP TEND THE OPEN WOUNDS LEFT FROM OBAMA PICKING BIDEN, BUT IT WAS JUSTIFICATION IN SOME WAY. WOMEN ARE NOT STUPID ENOUGH TO VOTE THE REPUB TICKET MERELY BECAUSE A WOMAN IS LISTED, AT LEAST NOT ME NOR THE ONES IN MY FAMILY OR OUR FRIENDS. AGAIN, PALIN IS NO CLINTON. CLINTON HAD GREAT VIEWS, IDEAS, AND HER PLATFROM WAS OUTSTANDING. SHE KNEW THE PROBLEMS OF THIS COUNTRY AND HOW SHE WOULD FIX THEM AND SHE DID AN EXCELLENT JOB OF DESCRIBING IT TO EVERYONE. OBAMA RAN ON HER COAT-TAILS. HE WAS “DITTO” ALONGSIDE HER VIEWS, IDEAS AND PLATFORM. AND WHEN HE COULD NOT OR WOULD NOT EXPLAIN HOW HE WAS GOING TO FIX THINGS, HE REFERRED PPL TO HIS WEB SITE.

CHANGE, MY FELLOW AMERICANS, DOES NOT MERELY HAVE TO DEAL WITH PICKING A PRESIDENT OF A DIFFERENT ETHNICITY, RACE, COLOR, SEXUAL PREFERENCE, RELIGION OR SEX, NOR DOES IT DEAL WITH GOING AGAINST THE WASHINTON INSIDERS…CHANGE HAS TO DO WITH THAT ONE PERSON WHO HAS GONE THROUGH GREAT HEART-BREAK, PERSONAL AND POLITICAL EMBARRASSMENT, POLITICAL POUNDING AND NEGATIVE REPURCUSSIONS BECAUSE OF PREVIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES BEYOND HER CONTROL OR FOR HER EMBARKMENTS ON TRYING TO HELP THE MIDDLE CLASS AND THE IMPOVERISHED. ONE WHO HAS HAD GREAT DISAPPOINTMENT IN THE POLITICAL WORLD, ONE WHO HAS BEEN SPOKEN OF HARSHLY, ONE WHO HAS BEEN HATED BY THE RIGHT-WING AND THE MEDIA, ONE WHO HAS SEEN FIRST-HAND HOW DIFFICULT THE JOB CAN BE, ONE WHO HAS BEEN BASHED BY HER OWN GENDER KIND, AND STILL, SHE WANTS THE JOB OF PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. AT THE END OF THE DAY, HAD HILLARY CLINTON WON…I WOULD HAVE RESTED SO SOUNDLY. NOW LIKE MILLIONS OF AMERICANS, WE ARE SCARED OF OUR FUTURE AND WE ARE NOT 100% CERTAIN WHICH CANDIDATE WILL GET US SOME HELP FOR THE ECONOMY AND TO END THIS NEEDLESS WAR AND TO HELP US OUT OF THE MANY, COUNTLESS PROBLEMS THIS NATION CURRENTLY FACES. I KNOW MCCAIN CANNOT HELP US, BUT I AM NOT SO SURE OBAMA CAN EITHER. NOT THAT OBAMA DOES NOT WANT TO HELP, BUT HE LACKS THE KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE THAT HILLARY DID AND DOES POSSESS. JOHN JUST WANTS TO HELP HIMSELF AND HIS KIND. SARAH PALIN IS TOO BUSY PICKING OUT READING GLASSES AND TRYING TO LOOK PRETTY AND WHAT STRUGGLES SHE WILL ENDURE IF SHE CONTINUES TO TRY TO LOOK INTELLIGENT - IT AIN'T GONNA HAPPEN, SARAH, SO GET OVER IT. WHAT A GREAT FUTURE THIS COUNTRY COULD AND SHOULD HAVE HAD IF PPL HAD WISED UP A LOT SOONER DURING PRIMARIES AND CAUCAUSES AND BEEN BRAVE ENOUGH AND SOUND ENOUGH TO VOTE FOR HILLARY.. I SAY WE RID OURSELVES OF THAT SYSTEM (PRIMARIES.CAUCAUSES) AND OF THE ELECTORAL VOTES AND ALLOW THE MAJORITY VOTE TO DETERMINE OUR PRESIDENT. GORE WOULD HAVE RIGHTFULLY WON ELECTION IN 2000 AND MOST LIKELY RE-ELECTION IN 2004. FOR DARN SURE, HILLARY WOULD HAVE WON THE DEMOCRATIC TICKET THIS YEAR, AND I AM CERTAIN SHE WOULD HAVE WON THE WHITE HOUSE.

I AM AT ODDS OVER THE FACT THAT THIS COUNTRY HAS YET TO LEARN TO VOTE USING THEIR COMMON SENSE AND FOR THAT, WE CONTINUE TO PAY AND PAY DEARLY. GOD SAVE US ALL!
